“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me, too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it’s true I’m here, and I’m just as strange as you.”

Frida is a legend and an icon for Mexican women like myself. The oddest thing is how much in common I have with her. If you know about her life story I can relate to most of them down to the names of the people that surround her. To experiencing a heartbreaking loss. But some things are too personal and I am not ready to share those details.

“I tried to drown my sorrows, but the bastards learned how to swim, and now I am overwhelmed by this decent and good feeling.”

Guys I can’t help but to mention that Bring Me The horizon has lyrics similar to that quote- “I can’t drown my demons they know how to swim” (lol #Sorrynotsorry)

I don’t know what inspired me to do a Frida inspired look/photo shoot. It was spontaneous. Sometimes inspiration comes out of no where and there is no need for an explanation.

Aside from black I love wearing red specially on my lips. I know it is not spring but I love florals regardless and this jumper is perfect for me to wear around Houston without dying of a heat stroke. BUT DO YOU SEE THAT BABY FACE ON MY KNEE!! I feel like a side show freak! Can we just ignore that horrible photo lighting effect and focus on the outfit.

“Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly?”

If one thing I learned from Frida is to be what you want to be no matter what others want to see, stay true to yourself and never be afraid of sharing your vision with others. Sometimes it takes one’s originality and “weirdness” to guide the world to a new era. Like the poets, writers, painters, misfits, and mystics who thought us to see the world in different eyes. So don’t be afraid of being different. Be afraid of being the same as everyone else.Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

There are misfits on every street, I love that you celebrate your uniqueness! I remember the Frida movie with Salma Hayek, did you ever see that one?

It’s always great when you can find a figure head to relate too! I love finding similarities between myself and people I look up too. I love this outfit post and the filters on the pictures! They look vintage!
